In ovaries, expressed in oocytes from primordial through antral follicles but not in granulosa cells, theca cells and corpora lutea. DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Expressed from E15.5. DISRUPTION PHENOTYPE: Male mice are fertile and show no obvious abnormality. Female mice lacking Nobox have normal gross anatomy and histology, but are infertile with atrophic ovaries that lack oocytes at 6 weeks of age. SIMILARITY: Contains 1 homeobox DNA-binding domain.
