Here we report that pharmacological inhibition of SCD1 with a novel small molecule in cancer cells promoted the activation of AMP activated kinase (AMPK) and the subsequent reduction of acetylCoA carboxylase activity, with a concomitant inhibition of glucose mediated lipogenesis
